Dad to cycle from Peckham to Paris ‘dressed as Del Boy’ for son with Muscular Dystrophy

A UK dad has decided to tackle an unusual cycle challenge in order to raise funds for his young son, who suffers from rare Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Inspired by his son Jagger’s love of classic BBC sitcom, Only Fools and Horses, James Curtis will cycle from Peckham to Paris dressed as TV character Del Boy.

In a homage to a classic episode of the show, Mr Curtis and his friends will dress as Batman and Robin – complete with Del Boy and Rodney Trotter face masks.

Mr Curtis hopes that the challenge will raise £4,000 to go towards an electric off-road wheelchair for son Jagger, who suffers from worsening mobility complications.

“The wheelchair will keep his mobility going. It’s so has can go off road with his friends. Ordinary wheelchairs are only good for soft tarmac. This will mean he can go for walks with us as things get worse,” said James.

“I wanted to do something for Jagger and so I thought of cycling to Paris but I love Only Fools and Horses so instead of London to Paris I thought why not Peckham to Paris?

“It’s going to be cushty,” he said.
